Heroes Season 1 Re-watch - “Don’t Look Back”

YATTA!

Not one of my favourite episodes, however it was brilliantly opened by the ever exuberant Hiro.

I couldn’t help but notice just how stroppy Claire is. She just doesn’t seem like a pleasant person to be around, even at this stage - I know alot of people will disagree with me on that, but hey, that’s my opinion. In saying that it was nice to see her joy at having saved the man from the wreckage, even though she didn’t get the credit for it. Though the fact that she is virtually indestructible does make me question whether her ‘bravery’ is all that it’s cracked up to be? Surely someone like Ando or even someone with abilities like Hiro is more brave than Claire is? Anyway, I guess i’ll touch on that some more another day.

Another episode, another great performance by Milo - I’m just so invested in Peter’s story at this stage. I liked how his drawing included the symbol that we later come to see much much more of (nice touch and once again, this suggests that he has some sort of pre-cog..perhaps gained from Isaac via Simone, seeing as Isaac’s paintings feature the same symbol in this episode). I should note that we also see the symbol in the swimming pool later on in this episode. It was also nice to see Ma Petrelli tell Peter that he’s her favourite - hey, I can’t stand the woman, but it was a nice moment and Peter needed to hear that. Oh, and I still can’t stand Nathan..what a jerk.

Nikki’s story becomes really interesting in this episode and I am a big fan of the way Ali Larter switches between ‘Nikki’ and her alter ego.

I’m also a big fan of Eden..I mean how HOT is she, seriously! She also has great chemistry with Mohinder, who really begins to come into his own in this episode. I can’t remember whether I originally suspected Eden as being a mole, but looking back, she really does a good job and is very convincing - this all makes sense later of course.

Matt was good in this episode, as ever Grundberg does a good job in portraying his powers. It was good to have Sylar mentioned in this episode, it’s weird to think that we wont actually see the guy properly for a good few episodes yet. I guess this is part of the reason why he made such a big impact on the rest of the season.

Perhaps the best moment of this episode was when Peter flies..or rather, floats - that was such a cool way to have him (begin to) realise his potential..partly cos it stuck it to Nathan too. Ha!

All in all this was a decent episode, again, not one of my favourites but it was good to watch it again.

Roll on episode 3!
