Heroes Re-watch: ‘Collision’

Quite a powerful episode, however I didn’t really notice anything new or come out of it with any new perceptions.

I did however enjoy the opening scene - great choice of music!

I felt yet more contempt towards Simone..I just can’t believe how disconnected she is from the pain that Isaac is going through. Whatsmore I don’t really sense much chemistry between her and Peter. I’m not sure whether it’s down to the acting or the script, but the chemistry between Milo and Tawny is literally non-existent, in my opinion (or perhaps their relationship was all about one thing..and not love as Peter professed it was..?).

Mohinder & EdenActually, one thing which I did notice upon re-watching (and this goes for the previous episodes too), is that Mohinder’s story is ALOT more interesting at this stage than I previously recognised. Along with Peter, his scenes have kept me interested and I feel a greater sense of investment to his character than I did when I first saw these early episodes. Though perhaps Eden’s presence has also helped? You can’t ever have enough Eden! Speaking of Mohinder, it was a great moment when he was trying to inform Nathan of the ‘abilities’ that he might be experiencing, and then the ranting and raving tramp (I assume he was homeless?) walked past - it was like looking in the mirror for Mohinder, because he saw how he must look to Nathan, with all his ‘mad’ theories of human evolution and such. I think this really hurt Mohinder and turned him once again into a hardened cynic..at least until Peter showed up at his door.

Claire’s RevengeThe most memorable scene was when Claire got her revenge on Brody by slamming the car into the wall. I thought that what she did was disgusting - yes, Brody is a **** but ‘an eye for an eye’ mentality can’t work. Whatever happened to the phrase: “With great power, comes great responsibility“? Hmm..but then I guess this is one of the themes of season 1, in that people like Claire didn’t ask for this power and are (at times) simply not ready to use it wisely. At this stage, she is still finding out about herself, let alone this ability that she has, and so morals and ethics don’t really come into it for her yet?..I guess this is a comment from the creators showing us that these people are not perfect and have flaws just like ordinary people. Infact they are ordinary people aren’t they…that’s kinda the point..

So yeah, that was definitely the most interesting part of this episode..like I said i feel for Claire and would never support what Brody did to her, but to attempt to kill the guy when she knew she wouldn’t get hurt..well, it’s a shocking act and one which opens many talking points.

Overall, this was a good episode to re-watch, with some interesting themes coming to the fore.

Oh and Nathan still sucks..:P
